What is geotagr?
geotagr is the place where you can browse and tag photos from Flickr using MSN
Virtual Earth Maps. However, this application is no way related to MSN or
Flickr and it is created by Chandu Thota.
What can I do using geotagr?
1. You can browse anyone's (and yours) public geotagged pictures on the map.
2. You can geotag your pictures to a location using simple drag-and-drop
interface.
What is geotagging?
Geotagging is nothing but adding geographic information to your photos. For
example, if you have taken a photo in Seattle, you would geotag them as geolat:47.54
and geolong:-122.43 so that you can organize your photos by location.
What do I need to use geotagr?
You need to be a Flickr user to use geotag your photos using geotagr!. However,
you can browse anyone elses's public photos on Flickr without needing any kind
of memberships.
Why do I have to login?
You don't have to if you don't want to geotag your photos! However, you must
login to geotag your photos since it requires edit permissions to tag your
photos. On the other hand, if you are interested in browsing others public
photos, just type in the Flickr user photo page url (such as this one:
http://flickr.com/photos/sage/)!
Can I browse anyone's photos?
Yes, but only those photos that are marked as public.
How do I geotag my photos?
1. Click on Start to login to Flickr and select the "Geotag your Flickr Photos"
option; when you submit your email and password, you will see your photo sets
in the photo set panel.
2. Click on a photo set to see photos; photos in the selected photo set will be
displayed in the photos panel. Now you are reay to geotag the photos.
3. Select the photo from the photo panel and drag and drop the photo on to the map. A Pushpin (
) will lead you to pin point the location.
4. Then click submit to confirm and save your tags to Flickr.
5. That's it! You have successfully geotagged your photo!
How do I browse photos?
1. Click on Start and select the "Browse Flickr Photos" option and then type in
the Flickr User Phot url that you want to browse (eg:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/sage).
2. Click on a photo set to see photos; photos in the selected photo set will be
displayed in the photos panel. Now you are ready to explore photos.
3. Each geotagged photo will display a globe next (
)
to it and also a pushpin added on the map.
4. You can either click on the globe or "hover-over" your mouse on the pushpins
on the map to see the photo by location.
5. When the photo thumbnail popup is displayed, you can click on the thumbnail
to see the full-size photo.
What are the tags added when I geotag my photo?
There will be four tags added to your photo:
1. geolat:latitude: Indicates the latitude of the photo.
2. geolong:longitude: Indicates the longitude of the photo.
3. geotagged: Indicates that this photo is tagged for its location.
4. geotagr: Indicates that this photo is tagged by the application "geotagr".
Why can't I browse my geotagged photos immediately?
There will be a slight time-delay in getting the Flickr tags updated. So you
many not see your geotagged photos on the map immediately.
How do I pan and zoom on the map?
1. You can drag the map to pan around.
2. You can either use the (+) and (-) images or double-click to zoom the map.
